About
Auryn is from Bergen, where the rain is constant and the light, when it comes, is almost unbearable. She makes art pop that sounds like that light — ethereal and cinematic, layered angelic vocals over orchestral swells, piano with strings, warm golden reverb that expands every phrase outward until you are not sure where the song ends and you begin. The production is luminous. The feeling underneath is not simple.
Her songs are about becoming. Not transformation as triumph — transformation as the ongoing, uncertain process of someone who is still figuring out what she is carrying and whether she can hold it. The wonder in Auryn's work is real, and so is the weight. She does not arrive. She ascends, and the ascending is the whole point, and the light she holds is still being learned.
Named after the Norse word for 'gold,' she writes at the threshold between states — wonder and grief, radiance and ache, the moment before the knowing settles into certainty. Every song is that moment, held open a little longer than is comfortable, which is precisely the duration it requires.
“Still learning to hold her own light.”
